My name is Alexander Nie. I am a sophomore undergraduate student studying mechanical engineering at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Photography is a major hobby of mine, in addition to cars and motorsports. Photography is a way of capturing the emotions and ideas found in a moment that are unable to be described in words, and with each photograph I take and share, I hope to spread these messages.

I attend many of the car meets around the Phoenix-Metro area in Arizona, including Cars and Coffee in Scottsdale and the Arizona Instagram Meets, also in Scottsdale. I also take photos of my family's cars, a 2008 Honda Accord Sedan, and a 2014 Ford Mustang GT. In addition, I take portrait photos, using the scenic backdrops around the Valley to frame a perfect shot. Furthermore, I take long exposure shots. I love the look and feeling of the streams of light that appear in long exposure shots. Living in a desert and a large city, I take many nature, urban, and landscape photos to capture the beauty of the desert and the city within it. I also experiment in many different areas, such as Bokeh, macro, and group photography.

I've always loved photography, but my feelings for it became more serious when I got the video game Gran Turismo 5 in December 2010. In the game, the Photo Mode simulates a DSLR camera so that one can take pictures of their cars. After playing around with this tool, teaching me the basics of operating a DSLR camera, I decided to get a real DSLR camera (since at the time my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx was my "best camera"). In December of 2013 I got a Nikon D3100 and began snapping away, teaching myself about photography, with the help of friends. I upgraded in May 2014 to a Nikon D5300 and have continued learning and improving.
